Oman will tender 11 renewable energy projects by the end of the year
According to reports, Oman rural power company (Raeco) may be released at the end of the national 11 renewable energy project tender. This is in line with the company's strategy to increase the national renewable energy footprint.
Raeco has begun a feasibility study of 11 different locations in Oman to implement a hybrid energy system project as one of the first companies to start using solar energy to replace expensive and highly discharged diesel power plants.
"We have hired advisory bodies to provide a viable power generation model for 11 locations, and by the end of the year we will tender for these projects," said Saleh Al Rumhy, chief executive of Raeco.
"Our goal is that 25% of the energy needs in these areas come from renewable sources," says Al Rumhy.
Oman's companies are looking for a hybrid model to replace a single renewable energy power plant because cost-effective energy storage technology is still not feasible.
