According to the Nepal Water and Energy Commission, electricity demand is calculated based on an annual increase in demand of 15%.
On Jan. 9, the energy ministry, Janardan Sharma, told a news conference organized by the Department of Energy that demand for electricity this year was 1721 megawatts.
Sharma, sharing research information, said that by 2020, Nepal's electricity demand will increase to 6814 MW.
The study's projections are based on Nepal's economic growth rate of 7.2, which has become a developing country from one of the least developed countries. In addition to water and electricity, Nepal also needs to develop other energy sources to improve the national economy.
